Doh!

Having written my first article for the Exeter City programme last week, I only got around to emailing it to the editor yesterday. Which would have been fine if the deadline hadn't been Thursday. More than a bit embarrassing and giving the editor a bit more work to do to fill the 600 words not covered by my article. Not a great start to the season. My first article will therefore be appearing in the 2nd programme of the season for the Morecambe game next Saturday. I'll be posting it here on Sunday.

On a related note, ECFC did have a good start to the season, beating Gravesend 2-0 away in front of 604 traveling fans. (There were 1500 there in total, so we didn't quite out-number the home fans, but it was close.) Gary of Coffee and PC did a live blog of the match which makes good reading (well, if you're a City fan), showing the emotional ups and downs as the match progresses.

The first home match of the season is on Tuesday and I can't wait. We've made a good start, but face a tough challenge in the shape of Kidderminster, one of the teams relegated from the Football League last season. I'm expecting them to be there or there abouts at the end of the season so the game will give us an insight into our promotion rivals and where we stand in relation to them.

I have a day off from my summer job tomorrow which happens to coincide with the last day of the 3rd Ashes Test Match at Old Trafford. England are in a strong position, needing to take 10 wickets in a day to take a 2-1 lead. The Aussies need another 399 runs to win, which they are unlikely to do. It all makes for another fascinating days play. The series so far has been an excellent watch and has certainly lived up to the hype that surrounded the build up. England have the upper hand at the moment, but the Aussies won't give up without a fight. I've got a few things that I need to do, so there'll be no lie-in despite my day off: I'll need to have done everything before play starts at 1030am!
